From the tiny microbes inhabiting your gut to the vast ecosystems of our planet, biology reveals the fundamental processes of life. Using evolution as a unifying theme, you will see how the molecules of life are assembled into cells, organ systems, and organisms and how all these systems interact. We will trace the evolution of the heart across species, then connect structure to function in a comparative lab and share our insights in a mini-conference poster session. We’ll dive into biochemistry by following what happens to food molecule by molecule, and then head to the teaching kitchen to apply those ideas while cooking waffles.

Laboratories, dissections, and class activities will help bring the study of biology to life.
